This is mostly a balance patch with minor tweaks, QoL changes/additions, and a lot of fixes.
Prepping for a Hall of Fame season, starting as soon as we deem the version mostly balanced and bug-free.
Notable things we have addressed balance-wise:
- The current Gold/Lumber inflation (too many bonus resources from several mechanics)
- The power level of some early and late game towers/mechanics
- Reworks to many core mechanics
For full transparency: Many elements in v2.2b were intentionally left slightly overtuned to test balance, since versions 2.1 - 2.2a were too difficult or unplayable. This patch slightly tones things down toward the intended Pumpkin TD experience.
General
More info and reasoning regarding fixes/changes can be seen under their own corresponding main header tabs.
- !! Major: General Ice Slow % movement speed reduction has been adjusted from 45% to 40%.
- (New) MAX slow with all stackable slowing effects is 92% (down from 97%).
- !! Major: Sudden Death Timer is now 65s (down from 75s).
Fixes
- !Testing a possible fix for: Game crash on map start (if the player doesn’t have system rights to write to a file used by our save system). [Note: if you still crash upon loading the map, please use Classic graphics in wc3 settings]
- !Fixed not being able to start DT in multiplayer if another player already started or skipped theirs.
- !Fixed multiboard not updating correctly when some players are dead, have left, or finished while others are still playing.
- !Fixed the Sudden Death Timer to properly reset upon clearing a new wave.
- !Fixed the Sudden Death Timer to properly disable certain stuns. (Towers/abilities that are unaffected by the Sudden Death Timer now have a notion in their ability tooltips)
- !Fixed certain issues with the Shop not working as intended.
- !Fixed some random desync issues in multiplayer games.
Additions & Refactors
- Re-added failsafes for a few towers that might stop autoattacking after using Focus Fire (e.g. Lich King). (this change still doesn’t “fix” autocast towers e.g. Lugia, so use Focus Fire at your own risk)
- (New) Added a new loading screen with a higher resolution, patch highlights, hints, and some history.
- (New) Added an automatic Range Check to all towers when selecting them (shows the tower’s ATTACK range for 1s).
- Keep in mind that the whole model of the enemy has to be within Range borders for it to be accurate.
- You can Enable or Disable the automatic Range Check via your Architect (it’s ON by default).
- (New) Added a pulsing image as a reminder below the “Start Damage Test” button, so that it’s more noticeable.
- (New) Added a new selectable Skin for Patreon Supporters.
- (New) Added failsafes to the map for players that have corrupted save codes (auto-fixes your code on launch if corrupted).
- (New) Added a group cooldown for all Cosmetics when equipped to prevent issues caused by spamming them.
- (New) Added new icons for all evolution/upgrade abilities.
- (New) Added a notion to Check Range ability tooltips regarding how wc3 interprets range.
- (New) Added a DPS tag reset when you enter the pre-DT phase, to clear damage numbers for others to use. (DPS tags will also no longer be shown for towers built mid-round, only after the next round begins)
- Fixed/Adjusted certain tower damage logic where some would deal more than intended, and some less.
- Fixed/Adjusted some tower logic in the code to have better performance and to not cause random issues.
- Adjusted all towers’ damage text to be more centered and slightly smaller for better visibility.
- Adjusted resources gained logic in the Multiboard, and it will now show an abbreviated number when above 10k generated. (you can still see your exact generated amount in the STATS window, top left)
- Refactored data saving logic for Chrono/Multiboard and some other things, hopefully fixing some very rare bugs.
- Refactored most information shown in Evolution ability tooltips.
- Refactored certain achievement logic to fix rare bugs that wouldn’t unlock them even if requirements were met.
- Removed the Christmas Trees in the tower showcase area.
- ...and as always, adjusted/fixed a lot of in-game info, icons, tooltips, etc.
Towers
With all of the recent changes the past few versions, some towers have become too good for their purpose. Only slightly backtracking on many buffs that were applied in the recent past, while creating new avenues to discover.
Friendly reminder: all towers now show their Attack Range as a visual indicator around the tower upon selecting any tower, for 1s. (can be turned off via your Architect)
Removed, Renamed & Returning Towers
- Removed Grunt (T2).
- Renamed Hydralisk (T5) to Poison Elemental (T5) (changed model).
- Attack range: from 600 to 500
- Attack speed: from 0.5 to 1.25
- Passive [Poison Breath]: Poison DPS from 350 to 400. Fixed its passive to work as intended.
- This tower can now be used or is mandatory for some Quests that require elementals.
- Returning Dehaka - Mecha (T4). Temporarily changing base attributes back to how they were before removing the passive ability (desync issues fixed).
- Base damage: from 500 to 150
- Attack speed: from 0.7 to 1.05
- Range: from 700 to 600
- Passive [Inner Madness]: Attacks have a 5% chance to make Dehaka burrow for 2.5 seconds. While burrowed, accumulates all damage dealt by your other towers and unleashes 50% of it in a 625 radius explosion. (Max damage: 150,000).
New Towers
- (New) Cyber Warden (T2) [Basic]
- Can evolve into Terminator T6 [Cost: 500g, 5L, and requires 3 Red Wisps (THE WISPS WILL BE CONSUMED)].
- Base Damage: 75 | Attack speed: 0.8 | Range: 350
- Passive [Cyber Dance]: Attacks have a 20% chance to deal 75 damage within 450 AoE.
- (New) Terminator (T6) [Special]
- Max. 1 at any given time.
- Base Damage: 500 | Attack speed: 0.025 | Range: 700
- Passive [Minigun]: 1% chance on attack to summon a Terminator for 5s. 7.5% chance to shoot a penetrating bullet (stuns for 0.25s, deals +1500 pure damage). Each attack deals +1% of current HP.
- Terminator (summon): Damage: 1000 | AS: 1.5 | Range: 175 (melee). Attacks deal 10% MAX HP as additional damage, stun for 2.0s (unaffected by SD timer), and miss 90% less.
Tower Changes
Good to keep in mind: Green Wisp’s “Wisp’s Rage” will drastically increase the damage of towers, especially those with a multihit or abilities. It also stacks with Tower Enhancement.
- Grave (T1): Removed the delete grave ability.
- Kabutops (T1): Attack speed from 0.5 to 0.55. Passive [Slash] bonus damage on proc from 100 to 85.
- Knight (T1): Attack speed from 0.44 to 0.5.
- Troll Head Hunter (T1): Attack speed from 0.85 to 0.925.
- Arrow Tower (T1): Attack speed from 0.95 to 1.0. Passive [Icy Arrow] Ice Slow duration from 0.75s to 1.0s.
- Gimbap (T1): Base damage from 60 to 55.
- Ghoul (T1): Attack speed from 0.75 to 0.825.
- Stuffed Goblin (T1): Attack speed from 0.9 to 0.95. Base damage from 24 to 30.
- Agumon (T1): Attack speed from 0.65 to 0.725.
- Gabumon (T1): Attack speed from 0.42 to 0.5.
- Icy Elemental (T2): Attacks no longer have splash AoE slow (single target only).
- Electrified Hermit (T2): Range from 550 to 525.
- Cheese Ramen (T2): Range from 700 to 600.
- Huntress (T2): Attack speed from 1.1 to 1.2.
- Goblin Sapper (T2): Attack speed from 0.7 to 0.6. Base damage from 35 to 45.
- Dame (T2): Attack speed from 0.4 to 0.45. Passive [Protect the Queen!] bonus damage to bosses from 50 + 0.5% of current HP to 50 + 0.25% of current HP.
- King's Mage (T3): Max count from 2 to 1 (Unique: 1). Attack speed from 0.375 to 0.4. Evolution cost from Dame: 75g + 8L. Passive bonus damage to bosses from 75 + 0.75% of MAX HP to 100 + 0.5% of MAX HP (5x to Tank, up from 3x).
- Articuno (T3): Attack speed from 0.85 to 1.0. Passive [Frost Prison] chance to freeze from 15% to 12.5%, duration from 1.25s to 1.0s, damage from 200 to 350.
- Pikachu (T3): Attack speed from 0.5 to 0.6. (New) Can now be targeted by Wisp's Rage (Green Wisp).
- Raichu (T4): Attack speed from 0.375 to 0.45. Evolution cost from 3L to 4L. (New) Can now be targeted by Wisp's Rage.
- Zapdos (T4): Attack speed from 0.65 to 0.75. Passive shock damage from 600 to 750.
- Troll Shadow Hunter (T4): Evolution cost from 100g and 5L to 150g and 5L.
- Spicy Noodle Soup (T5): (New) Can now be targeted by Wisp's Rage.
- Windston (T5): Base damage from 60 to 100. Attack range from 700 to 600. Attack speed from 1.2 to 1.5.
- (New) Reworked passive [Tornado Attack]: Generates a tornado locked in place (100 dmg/0.5s for 5s in 300 AoE). Ignores armor. Damage increases up to 2x based on lost HP.
- Alphonse Elric (T5): Passive (when boosted): Proc chance from 40% to 35%, stun duration from 0.6s to 0.5s, AS bonus from 45% to 40%.
- Tauren Bear Form (T5): Attack speed from 1.15 to 1.05. Evolution cost from 2L to 4L.
- Troll Cat Form (T5): Attack speed from 0.35 to 0.275. Cost remains 2L.
- Edward Elric (T6): Attack speed from 0.75 to 1.0.
- Icy Dragon (T6): AoE splash slow from 700 AoE to 550 AoE.
- Alolan Raichu (T6): Evolution cost from 10L to 12L.
- Arthas (T7): AoE splash slow from 1000 AoE to 750 AoE.
- Mini-Gatling Goblin (T7): Cost to evolve to T8 from 150g to 250g.
- Vintage Police Car (T7): Base damage from 600 to 1000. Attack speed from 1.0 to 2.5. Passive [Police Rockets] required attacks from 20 to 10. (Adjusted attack counter visually. Unaffected by SD timer).
- Venusaur (T7): Attack speed from 1.1 to 1.2. Base damage from 1500 to 1000. Passive [Petal Blizzard] %MAX HP damage per hit from 3% to 2%. (New) All hits deal +750 pure damage while under Akainu's Rage.
- Blastoise (T7): Attack speed from 0.6 to 0.7. Passive [Hydro Pump] chance from 15% to 12%, damage from 6500 to 7000, stun duration from 1.0s to 0.85s.
- Fireston (T8): Base damage: 150.
- (New) Reworked passive [Tornado Attack]: Generates a fire tornado locked in place (150 dmg/0.5s for 5s in 400 AoE). Ignores armor. Damage increases up to 5x based on lost HP.
- Ice Golem (T8): Active Ability [Freeze!] charge generation from 1 per 60s to 1 per 125s. Cooldown from 7s to 15s. Freeze duration from 4.0s to 2.75s. (Unaffected by SD timer)
- Gatling Goblin (T8): Cost to evolve to T9 from 300g to 500g.
- Sniper (T8): Attack speed from 3.5 to 4.5. (New) Range: Can’t attack enemies that are within 500 range of the tower.
- Deathwing (Human) (T9): Passive [Tainted Death] is unaffected by the Sudden Death Timer.
- Deathwing (Dragon) (T9): Attack speed from 0.8 to 1.15. Range from 800 to 950. Projectile speed from 1000 to 1500. (Ability doesn't stun after SD timer, but still deals damage/summons golems)
- Samurai Sensei (T9): Bonus damage dealt to Tank (DT) per hit from 350 to 500.
- Wandering Ghost (T9): (New) The horde now also deals 15% of MAX HP as additional damage.
- Avatar of Khaine (T9): Base damage from 1500 to 2000. Range from 975 to 1000. AS from 1.375 to 1.35.
- Shaman (T9): Base damage from 1200 to 1000. AS from 0.55 to 0.75. Range from 975 to 925. Totems range from 1000 to 800.
- Power Totem: AS from 0.10 to 0.15
- Damage Totem: AS from 0.10 to 0.15
- Bash Totem: Stun duration from 2s to 1.75s (unaffected by SD timer)
- Lich King (T9): Re-added a failsafe in case it still stops autoattacking enemies.
- Mew (T9): Attack range from 925 to 1000. Passive [Mythic Convergence] Firelash damage from 2500 to 3000 (pure). Echo damage from 1250 to 2000 (pure). Bonus DT damage from 500 to 5000. (New) Attacks miss 25% less.
- Mega-Venusaur (T9): Passive [Mega-Petals] trigger chance on multihit from 5% to 3%.
- Mega-Blastoise (T9): Passive [Mega-Pump] max HP damage per pump from 20% to 15%. Chance to trigger on attack from 10% to 3%.
Omegamon Line
(New) Omegamons can now be targeted by Wisp's Rage (Green Wisp). Reworked how their attacks work, increasing damage output by ~2x (making stat adjustments necessary).
- Omegamon (T5): Base damage from 215 to 150. Range from 700 to 600. AS from 1.1 to 1.5.
- Passive [Transcendent Sword]: Creep dmg from 4.25% to 2.5%. Boss dmg from 2.15% to 4%. Ice Attack chance from 30% to 50%. Splash AoE from 400 to 350.
- Omegamon - Zwart (T6): Evolution cost from 250g to 350g. Base dmg from 350 to 250. Range from 700 to 650. AS from 0.95 to 1.3.
- Passive [Transcendent Sword - Zwart]: Creep dmg from 6.5% to 3.5%. Boss dmg from 4.25% to 5.5%. Ice Attack chance from 30% to 50%. Splash AoE from 400 to 450.
- Omegamon - Merciful (T7): Evolution cost from 450g to 600g. Base dmg from 500 to 350. AS from 0.85 to 1.1.
- Passive [Transcendent Sword - Merciful]: Creep dmg from 9% to 5%. Boss dmg from 6.5% to 7.5%. Ice Attack chance from 30% to 50%. Splash AoE from 400 to 550. Attacks miss 50% less.
D.Va Line
- Added: A small notion to Yrel tech line tooltip stating you always have a 50% chance to get a better version of tiers 1-8 when built.
- Fixed: All D.Va’s to deal the correct amount of damage (they were doing less dmg than intended).
- D.Va (T8): Base damage from 2500 to 2250. Passive [Refined Laser] enhancement from +31.25% per level to +25% per level (new max +175%).
- D.Va - Cat Dress (T8): Base damage from 2750 to 2500. Passive [Refined Laser] enhancement from +62.5% per level to +50% per level (new max +350%).
- D.Va - Mech (T9): Base damage from 3000 to 3250. Enhancement unchanged (max +875%). Upgrade cost from T8 from 300g to 500g and 10L (now also requires 1 Blue Wisp and 1 Black Wisp, doesn't consume them).
Box Towers
- Gold Box (T4): Attack speed from 3.7 to 4.3. Projectile speed from 1000 to 1500. (New) You can now target Gold Boxes with a White Wisp.
- Lumber Box (T4): Range from 1000 to 800. AS from 20.0 to 60.0 (once/minute before buffs). Damage fixed from 100 to 1. Projectile speed from 1500 to 2500. (New) You can now target Lumber Boxes with a White Wisp.
- Ice Box (T4): Added a new model. Base damage from 20 to 10. AS from 1.0 to 1.5. (New) You can now target Ice Boxes with a White Wisp. Passive (when boosted by Spectrum Box) chance to freeze from 9% to 10%, duration from 2s to 1.5s.
- Book Box (T4): (Reworked functionality) Range from 500 to 600. Base damage from 250 to 150. AS from 2.0 to 5.0. (New) You can now target Book Boxes with a White Wisp.
- New Passive: Each hit deals 0.5% of all targets’ current HP as additional damage (doesn’t ignore armor). Now also deals 50k damage to Tank(s) per hit.
- When boosted by Spectrum Box: Each hit deals 0.5% of max HP instead. Each hit has a 0.2% chance to get a random reward:
- 33.3% chance to get a Red Wisp (only way to get more Red Wisps).
- 33.3% chance to get a free Akainu or Myers (70% Akainu T4, 30% Myers T5).
- 33.3% chance to get a Sell Tower unit (allows selling ANY tower for base value, unremovable towers included. Cannot target T9/Spectrum).
Buffing Towers
- Akainu (T4): Removed splash. Added Check Range Ability (1000). Base damage from 130 to 250. AS from 0.8 to 2.5. Range from 600 to 1000. Ability range from 800 to 1000. Buff duration from 120s to 150s. Cooldown from 10s to 15s. Base Damage Buff from 75% to 85%.
- Grim Reaper Myers (T5): Added Check Range Ability (750). Base damage from 110 to 250. AS from 1.0 to 2.5. Range from 900 to 750. Ability buff duration from 21s to 30s. Cooldown from 4s to 6s. Cast range from 675 to 750.
- Kyrestia (T9): Removed casting time (now instant). Added Check Range Ability (750). Base damage from 1500 to 250. AS from 1.5 to 2.5. Range from 800 to 750. Ability ALL damage buff from +45% to +50%. Duration from 55s to 60s. Cooldown from 10s to 15s. Cast range from 800 to 750.
Misc. changes
Chrono Rewards
- Reworked Round 12 (Adolescent Chrono): From selecting Knight/Troll to: Select any Basic Tier 1 tower.
- Reworked Round 18 (Chrono T3): From selecting Goblin/Yrel to: Select any Tech Tier 1 tower.
Wisps
- Yellow Wisp: Lumber gained from 1-5 to 1-4.
- White Wisp: (New) Wisp's Lust can now target Gold Box, Lumber Box, Ice Box, and Book Box. Bonus Gambling resources from 25-200g to 0-225g. Gold Exchange rate from 50g for 5L to 250g for 10L.
- Green Wisp: Wisp's Rage base damage buff from +150 to +50. (New) Can now target Pikachu, Raichu, Spicy Noodle Soup, Omegamons. (New) Buff now gives 0.5% of current HP as bonus damage. Bonus Gambling lumber from 4-15L to 0-20L. Lumber Exchange rate from 5L for 75g to 10L for 250g.
- Orange Wisp: Debuff duration from 25s to 20s.
- Pink Wisp: Cutie Damage duration from 75s to 45s. Base damage buff from +150 to +100. (New) Now also gives 1% of targets MAX HP as bonus damage.
Generators
- Gold Generators:
- [Lvl 1]: Gold generated from +30g/min to +25g/min. Upgrade to Lvl 2 cost from 225g to 250g. (New) 3 min cooldown when built before upgrade.
- [Lvl 2]: Gold generated from +60g/min to +50g/min. Upgrade to Lvl 3 cost from 900g to 600g. (New) 3 min cooldown.
- [Lvl 3]: Gold generated from +120g/min to +90g/min.
- Lumber Generators:
- [Lvl 1]: Upgrade to Lvl 2 cost from 20L to 10L. (New) 3 min cooldown.
- [Lvl 2]: Lumber generated from +4/min to +3/min. Upgrade to Lvl 3 cost from 80L to 30L. (New) 3 min cooldown.
- [Lvl 3]: Lumber generated from +8/min to +5/min.
Tower Enhancement & Auras
- Tower Enhancement: %current HP damage per level from 0.05% to 0.01% (New MAX is 0.05% at level 5). Most of this bonus was moved to Green Wisp.
- Auras: Removed the Base Damage bonus from Damage Aura (+5/+10/+15/+20 Base Damage) due to a flickering bug. ALL damage bonus is unaffected.
Shop
- Removed Icy Elemental (T2).
- Added purchasable Ice Box (T4) (250g and 10L).
- Gold Box cost: from 150g and 15L to 200g and 15L.
- Stun Trap: Cast range from 500 to 650. Stun AoE from 750 to 1000. Duration from 10s to 12.5s. Detection radius from 250 to 500. Activation delay from 1s to INSTANT. Duration (untriggered) from 60s to 100s.
- Frost Nova: Cost from 10g to 5g. Slow duration from 30s to 60s.
Gambling
- Gold Gambling: Chance to BUST from 70% to 75%. Chance to hit T1 Basic/Tech 2% -> 1%. T2 Basic 2.5% -> 1%. T3 Basic 2% -> 1.5%. T4 Basic 1.5% -> 1%. Yellow Wisp 2.5% -> 2%. Silver jackpot +125g. Gold jackpot +250g. Lumber jackpots reduced. White Wisp no longer returns +15g.
- Lumber Gambling: Gold bonus chance increased from 28.5% to 47.5% (+75g). Life 20%. Green Wisp 10%. Aura chance 9.81% to 5% each (20% total). Karax 2nd hit now gives +20L instead of +250g. Green Wisp no longer returns +3L.
Mode Changes
Round Clear
- Round clear bonus (all modes): from +45g to +40g.
- Endless round clear bonus: still +50g after Round 60.
- Sudden Death Timer: from 75s to 65s.
Race
- Starting lives: from 20 to 15.
- (New) Now requires at least 2 players in the lobby to be able to select the mode, down from 3 players.
- Reworked gold gain in Race:
- First one to clear a round: from +5 gold to nothing.
- A player dying at any point after the first boss grants everyone else +50 gold.
- Everyone else except the leader (Scaling System): 1st streak: +5g, 2nd: +10g, 3rd: +15g, 4th: +20g, 5th: +25g, 6th: +30g (Max Cap +30g). Streak resets on new leader.
- Only the leader: First round clear streak of 5 grants +15 lumber (continues every 5 rounds).
- Reworked Sudden Death (Race mode only):
- First to clear a round refreshes SD Timer to full (65s).
- Other players still remaining only get 50s on the clock.
Endless
- Round 60+ Endless Creeps: Base armor from 10 to 11.
- Round 60+ Endless Bosses: Base armor from 20 to 21.
- (New) Endless Bonus Creep (Round 60+): Now grants 1 lumber (up from nothing).
- (New) Endless Boss rounds will now also spawn the Endless Bonus Creep.
All Modes (Base HP Scaling)
Increased the Base HP of all creeps for all rounds between 1-17 by 10% (excluding bosses). No effect on rounds beyond 18.

Achievements
- Fixed all bugs related to not unlocking certain colors/wings if you dealt too much damage.
- Fixed additive cosmetics scaling on many skins.
- Fixed a few skins to work together with other cosmetics / not get animation locked.
- Adjusted many skin sizes to be slightly bigger/smaller.
- Clarified many achievement’s in-game info.

- Requirements: Unknown (hidden). "Ten trials test a conflicted soul. Five live, five die. Balance is not in totals, but in the way you alternate..."

- Requirements: Unknown (hidden). "You’re a salesman at heart. Sell enough property to win the hearts of your peers." (Must be met before clearing Round 80 in Endless).
- (New) [The Emperor] (Skin+Title)
- Pre-requirements: Have Souls of the Damned, Demon's Pit, [Pacifist], [Merchant], [Warlock], and Angelic Wings (12) unlocked.
- Requirements: Kill Titanic in Master mode without using Construction Research, without gambling with gold, without completing quests, without using Wisps, without any T6-T9 towers, with exactly 15 lives, and zero leaks.
- (New) [Angelic Wings (12)]
- Requires Wings 11 unlocked. Deal 10b damage to DT (Damage Test).
Changed Achievements
- [Ash Ketchum]: Added Kabutops (T1) and Greater Lugia (T3) to required towers. Ditto requirement from 1x to 2x. Clarified tooltip.
- [Warlock]: Has a slightly higher chance to unlock from gambling with Gold.
- [Taichi Yagami]: Adjusted the tooltip to be more clear on how to complete.
- [Ghost Reaper]: Time requirement from 35 minutes to 25 minutes (back to how it was initially).
- [Sagiri], [Noob], [Noob King]: Adjusted to account for selling towers mid-game.
